New York City community gardens, often raised from the ruins of a demolished buildings, not only reclaim unused space for neighborhood enjoyment, but also create opportunities for discovery and natural escape from the hard urban landscape. The exhibition Hidden Encounters, installed in one such space in Carroll Gardens, pushes this idea even further. The 9 artists participating in this exhibition have created works that respond to The Secret Garden in a variety of ways, each offering a new path deeper into the landscape and the interiors of the artists themselves. We invite you to explore the environment slowly. Watch for the unexpected. And open yourself to the possibility of surprise and delight.
